Goldberry's Wash Day

I'm reading JRR Tolkein's The Fellowship of the Ring .....  again....and came across this poem from the Chapter called The Old Forest.  This is one of my favorite parts of the whole adventure.  The hobbits are rescued by Tom Bombadil - an ancient being of the Forest - over whom no enchantments hold sway - that is, except for the magic of his lady, the River's daughter, Goldberry.

Now let the song begin! Let us sing together
Of sun, stars, moon and mist, rain and cloudy weather.
Light on the budding leaf, dew on the feather,
Wind on the open hill, bells on the heather,
Reeds by the shady pool, lilies on the water:
Old Tom Bombadil and the River-daughter!

Thank you JRR Tolkein for creating such magic in my life!

Healing Salves

With the Super Moon of 2012 just passed, the herbs and plants down in the yard are full of magick healing potential.  Now is probably the best time of the whole year to make herbal preparations. This week I started off with a salve that can be used for all kinds of skin irritations.  Here are the ingredients: Lemon Balm ~ Chickweek ~ Jewel Weed ~ Comfrey ~ Plantain ~ Lavender Essential Oil ~ Virgin Olive Oil ~ Beeswax.   Follow any of the videos posted on YouTube for infusing the oil with the herbs - I like LearningHerbs.com videos.  Once you have your oil - add pieces of beeswax until you have the right consistency.  Easy to make and good to have on hand for any skin emergency.  Happy Herbing!

April Crazies

Loving every moment of this glorious Spring!  I can feel the waves of Beltane reaching out in anticipation. Lots of wild flowers mean opportunities to create ~~~~~  Dandelion Wine~~~~~ Violet Vinegar ~~~ and a Beltane Potion.

You Must Allow Yourself to be Changed by Your Art

I had the luxury of time this morning. Time to learn and explore. Time to expand my reality. Time to consider the question "Why am I here?" and "Where do I go from here?"  I've been lucky over the last several decades to have experienced life changing circumstances.  And lucky to have been able to adapt my world view - realizing that the flow of life means change.  Being static is certain to lead to decay.  And trying to maintain the status quo is sheer madness. I stand on the leading edge of thought and can populate my reality with all the wondrous things I can dream of. I am an explorer of unknown realms. A catalyst in my own expansion. Life is what you make of it.

Freya's Flower

My newest jewelry creation. My daughter, Sara, and I spent time combing through the racks of beads and findings at Michael's last night searching for bits to create our particular fantasies. We also found a book of dreams and inspirations at Barnes & Noble!  Hoping to be dreadfully creative this year.
I love the copper swirls and especially the Goddess spiral on the glass.  The piece reminds me of something that may have been found while excavating an ancient grave site.  Reminiscent of the Goddess, grapevines and  natural swirling patterns found in nature.

Happiness

Just some observations as I'm looking out my kitchen window.  The air is considerably colder today and a light snow is falling - actually its dancing.  The wind chimes are playing faerie music.  The morning is ethereal and dreamy.  .....  happiness .....
